Our Museums
The National Opal Collection (NOC) provides a diverse and interesting experience with the inclusion of an opal mine museum and a theatrette within the stunning showrooms. This environment provides visitors with an opportunity to understand and appreciate this incredible gemstone and its natural history. The NOC have faithfully recreated the history of opal and as you enter the NOC showrooms, you are completely surrounded by graphic, life-sized dioramas of Australia during the dinosaur age.
A highlight of the Sydney display is the opalized skeleton of "Nessie", a two metre long pliosaur which ruled the seas over 100 million years ago.
Entry to the museum is free and our overseas based visitors are able to enjoy the educational experience whilst at the same time take the opportunity of making a tax-free purchase and taking home an opal memento or even a valuable opal heirloom.
Our multi-lingual staff will greet you with a warm welcome. They are highly trained to effectively explain to clients the various qualities of opal and how to care for their precious purchases.
